I have like fifty posts brewing in my head that I need to write out.

But right now I just want to say that, regardless of who you supported in the past election, it is impossible to not be moved and inspired by the images of the thousands and thousands of people who came to witness Barack Obama's inauguration today.

It is a beautiful day. And I am incredibly proud to be an American.

I agree, it was a powerful and moving speech. I was able to listen to it in the car, and a moment in history I will never forget.

I'm Canadian, and proud to live next door today. What a choice the American people made in Obama! Even *I* feel optimistic and filled with hope after watching the inauguration.

I was repeatedly moved to tears, unashamedly, by the spectacle of the inauguration.

At 48, I have been around since Kennedy's, and yesterday was, for SURE, the coolest political thing I have ever seen, by a long shot. In this country, we have an orderly transition of power, and for once, we elected someone based on his intellect, leadership potential, and optimism, and the world--the whole fucking WORLD--got happy for a few minutes because of it. How cool is THAT?

For the first time in my life, the president is younger than I--not by much, but still--and what that means to me is that it is my generation's turn to run this place, and I think we can do a much better job than the previous administration!

I hope most Americans heard Obama's main message in his speech, which was that "now our work begins." He can't do this alone, and we will all be called upon to do more than we've been doing--we just don't know what that is yet.

The most optimistic thing about yesterday for me was the realization that at least for right now, the world doesn't consider our leader a complete laughingstock. Quite the opposite!
