Other Random Phone Pictures From The Trip.

HERE is why I'm OCD.

Every single picture on the walls at my parents' house - LITERALLY, every one - is askew. It drove me fuckin crazy the entire week. This is the one that greets you as you walk through the front door. They've had this picture all my life, and I've always hated it. It gave me nightmares as a kid. It's ugly, it's dark, it matches absolutely nothing and the critters with the gigantic eyeballs freak me out even today.

And here's why I love my dad. He can fix anything with Duct Tape, even things that aren't really worth fixing. Never mind that the basket could be easily have been replaced for 75% off of $1.50 two days after Easter last year. No, no. We've got duct tape. It's fine.

Here's what I love about Texas. The shape of Texas is ubitquitous.

Plus, ya got cattle heads sticking out of buildings.

And, of course, Margaritas.

Here's me and my sister. The name Wee is a bit of a misnomer, as she's 6'2".

Wee and Bubba took us to dinner at Plucker's, where I got to try a Deep Fried Twinkie.

Think funnel cake. That's what it tastes like. Now ya know.

Listen, I love me some sweets. But just the thought of deep-frying a Twinkie, and then serving it with ice cream and chocolate sauce, nearly makes my head explode. Seriously, I'm sure if I ate that I'd have a sugar rush so bad my diabetic dad would end up in a coma. Then again, Texas defines "overkill" as "almost done", so what should you expect?

My dad duct-tapes everything, even his slippers, before he'll replace them. He's also stapled things together (like the pocket on his bathroobe). We buy him new stuff and it stays in the packaging until the old one is unwearable. Weird.

I always thought that deep-fried Twinkies sounded gross, but looking at that pic made me think of fried ice cream, which I love.

Great Scott. You do have some adventures, don't you.

I was having a discussion the other night with hubby (this was at the swank restaurant about 10 minutes after the entire serving tray of food had fallen face-down on the floor and the carpet was still damp) about how certain people just seem to attract random events happening around them. I asked hubby if he thought I was one such person, and he nodded seriously, saying, "Yes, I think you are."

I think you're one too. Do oddities just seem to form around you in a swirling cloud??

BTW, I'm curious about the sign that says, "Make it Irish" next to the margarita and fajita banners. How would one go about making such things Irish?? Dousing them in Bailey's?

(sweet Jeebus, am I actually right about that??)

Thanks for letting us know about the DF Twinkie! I've always wanted to know and now I can cross that mystery off the list.

A deep fried twinkie seems a bit OTT. but now that you have tried it, I don't have to! Yippee!!

Just how fast was that bovine going when that building sprouted out of the ground in front of it?
